Android vitals

Android vitals is Google’s program for measuring app stability and performance on real devices, reported in Play Console. Core vitals include the user-perceived crash rate and the user-perceived ANR rate, alongside other metrics such as battery and rendering performance.

Google documents bad-behaviour thresholds: 1.09% user-perceived crash rate and 0.47% user-perceived ANR rate overall, and 8% for either metric on a single device model. Apps above the overall thresholds are likely to be less discoverable on all devices; above a per-device threshold, visibility can drop on those devices and a warning may be shown on the listing.

1. Review Android vitals weekly and after every release.
2. Fix the top crash and ANR clusters first.
3. Watch popular device models individually.
4. Roll out updates in stages.
